Hi Guys! I'm getting ready for my first half-marathon, and don't really know what to expect. To all you regular racers - what advice can you give that you may not have had when you first started racing? Any special items I should bring/leave home?

    Thanks!

Bring some toilet paper to the race, as the port a potty's will run out.
Know what the race offers as far as nutrition and plan accordingly. Know where each fuel station will be. You don't want to try a new brand of gel on the race course
If there is a place to check a bag, bring some dry/ change clothes.
    Sunscreen
    Beer Money

  4. Well, I haven't done a half marathon, but it seems logical to me that you'd want to slam down a greasy burger and a few beers before you head out. You know, to loosen up and get your groove on.

Just kidding! Good luck and have fun!!

haha, thanks! Since the race starts at 7am, I was thinking more along the lines of a sausage McMuffin and a big ol' mocha frappacino. I need the calories for fuel!

Wear only clothing that you've worn before. That goes for shoes, socks, everything. Make sure you can wear them for the full distance without blisters.

    And good luck!

"Sausage McMuffin and a big Ol' Frappacino"............well, you BETTER bring 2 rolls of TP :-)

Might be me, but don't be afraid of bringing Glide for any spots that bother you during training runs, and not sure if you have tried one before (if you haven't don't bother) but a racebelt is nice for the number.

Thanks everyone! I'll be wearing my race jersey for my run today to get a feel for it. My past race photos are definitely not frame-worthy, I'm going to make sure I raise my arms and smile big for the camera this time around. :)
