Finally Outdoors!

IMG_0658.JPGIn this part of the country we are often confined for several months to training indoors.  The combination of uncertain weather, and fewer daylight hours limit the ability to safely train outdoors.  While mountain biking and trail running is often an option, the weather pattern here, had made most trails also unusable.

With Saturday’s balmy 70 degree weather, we finally broke those shackles and got outdoors.  While I am still a firm believer that the quality of training time, done on a trainer is unmatched, the social interaction and fun is missing.  I was fortunate to ride with a good group of friends, and we toured much of Western Monmouth County.  We logged in about 75 miles, and returned home for a short run.  It was nice to put sun screen on, as suppose to positioning a box fan for a cooling breeze.

One of the best parts about becoming involved in racing and training are the friendship you can build.  Throughout the day I spent time riding alongside each of the other 5 people.  We talked and got to know each other, and occasionally just poked fun of each other.  Looking forward to some great group training this season.IMG00031-20100320-1356.jpg
